J.-C.) est un philosophe n\u00e9oplatonicien n\u00e9 en \u00c9gypte romaine, probablement \u00e0 Lycopolis (aujourd&rsquo;hui Assiout). \u00c9l\u00e8ve d&rsquo;Ammonios Saccas \u00e0 Alexandrie, il est le principal repr\u00e9sentant du n\u00e9oplatonisme, une \u00e9cole de pens\u00e9e qui d\u00e9veloppe et modifie les enseignements de Platon. En 244, il s&rsquo;installe \u00e0 Rome o\u00f9 il fonde une \u00e9cole philosophique influente. Ses enseignements sont consign\u00e9s par son disciple Porphyre dans les \u00ab\u00a0Enn\u00e9ades\u00a0\u00bb, une collection de 54 trait\u00e9s regroup\u00e9s en six groupes de neuf. Plotin explore des th\u00e8mes m\u00e9taphysiques, \u00e9thiques et psychologiques, centr\u00e9s sur l&rsquo;Un-Bien. Il influence profond\u00e9ment la philosophie chr\u00e9tienne et islamique m\u00e9di\u00e9vale, ainsi que la pens\u00e9e occidentale ult\u00e9rieure.
